"Fuels of the Future" 2024: Presentation of Sessions 2 & 3

9 November 2023

A central question that is driving the industry and that arises with great urgency in the global and national context is: When will the GHG-reduced fuel strategy for the energy transition in transport come into effect? On Monday, 22 January 2024, after the opening session of the 21st International Conference on Renewable Mobility "Fuels of the Future", you can look forward to a panel discussion in Session 2, in which the panellists will address this question under the moderation of Sonja van Renssen, energy monitor. You can look forward to the participants Dr. Markus Pieper, Member of the European Parliament (requested), Alois Gerig from the Federal Association of the German Bioethanol Industry, Dr. Uta Weiß from MEW Mittelständische Energiewirtschaft Deutschland e.V. and Frank Huster from DSLV Bundesverband Spedition und Logistik e.V.

Prof. Dr. Christian Beidl from the Technical University of Darmstadt will then start Session 3 "Implementation of EU legal requirements in transport - challenges and opportunities" with his presentation on the topic "Physics and sustainability as a benchmark - rethinking the energy transition in transport". Dr. Anita Breyer from the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) will discuss the role of biofuels in achieving climate protection targets in the transport sector. Jana Nysten from the Environmental Energy Law Foundation explores the question of whether EU emissions trading (ETS II) could be the game changer in the transport sector. Katja Wodjereck, Vice President Renewable Road Transport at Neste will conclude the session with a presentation on the legal framework for renewable fuels in global competition.

After Session 3, the Young Talent Promotion Award follows, in which particularly committed young researchers or students are honoured, we also cordially invite participants to the traditional bioenergy evening reception at Hub27.
