Today, as a partner in cirkel Beratungsgesellschaft mbH, he supports the introduction of new products and services as part of the energy transition towards regenerative concepts in mobility and heat supply. He supports research and development projects in the field of renewable fuels (smart fuels), advises on issues relating to the quality of fuels and quality optimisation measures, assists in the assessment of chemical and technical requirements, in liaising between the mineral oil industry, aggregate manufacturers and research institutions, and in the implementation of smart fuels strategies

Jana Nysten

Jana Nysten joined the Stiftung Umweltenergierecht as a researcher in 2019. Her research focus is European environmental energy law, in particular the completion of the European internal electricity market and the implementation of the European Energy Union.

She is working in various projects mainly on European and energy law issues related to the expansion of renewable energies and their integration into the European electricity market.

Jana Nysten previously worked for more than seven years as an attorney at the law firm Becker Büttner Held in Brussels and Berlin (2011-2018), where she was already involved in her present main areas of work. She studied Dutch and European law in Maastricht, the Netherlands (2005-2010) and international law with a focus on corporate law at PennState University in Pennsylvania, USA (2009-2010). There she was a research assistant at the Dickinson School of Law. After her studies, she passed the Bar Exam in the State of New York, USA (2010) and was also admitted to the bar in Belgium.

Manja Ostertag

Manja Ostertag has more than 13 years of experience in biofuels. She has joined the biofuels industry in 2010 when the road transport sector first started using biofuels. She has been developing new markets and customers by providing a variety of low carbon fuel solutions in line with the regulatory requirements. Since 2019 she has been developing sales also to the maritime industry.

Manja has worked in several sales and trading related positions within BP and Chevron Renewable Energy Group, before she joined Bunker Holding in April 2023.

As Head of Biofuels Manja is responsible for all biofuels related matters and the implementation of relevant biofuel solutions in the groups product portfolio, in order to drive the green energy transition in the shipping industry.

Andreas Rade

Political scientist Andres Rade, born in Bassum in 1967, has been Managing Director of the German
Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). He is responsible for for the business area "Politics and Society". Fundamental issues from the fields of
climate, transport and politics are just as much his responsibility as questions of
regulation at European level and foreign trade policy. With the
responsibility for the supplier industry is also linked to SME policy.

Before joining the VDA, Andreas Rade spent nine years as the managing director of the
of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) for nine years.
From 1999 to 2012, Andreas Rade worked in various positions for the
parliamentary group of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in Berlin, among other things as a
for transport policy and later as office manager of the then parliamentary group leader
Renate Künast.

Dr. Norbert Schmitz

ISCC System GmbH

Norbert Schmitz studied Business Administration at the University of Cologne where he also acquired his PhD. After working for several years for a leading European management consultancy, he founded Meo Carbon Solutions, a management consultancy focusing on sustainability and climate protection. During his time with Meo, he developed ISCC, International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, a multi-stakeholder approach that is now a leading sustainability certification system being used in more than 100 countries. Since 2010, he is Managing Director of ISCC Norbert also initiated the development of GRAS, Global Risk Assessment Services. Based on satellite data and databases, GRAS provides information on land use change, biodiversity, carbon and social criteria.

Giulia Squadrin

Giulia Squadrin is an associate editor on the Biofuels desk at Argus Media in London.

Giulia produces assessments for hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), bionaphtha, biopropane and biomethanol after having focused on the coverage of the European biodiesel market for two years, pricing benchmark and non-benchmark grades. As part of her role, she works on the analysis of the European biofuels market, including regulatory changes and data management.

Prior to joining Argus, Giulia worked with international organisations in Geneva for a year and completed a master’s degree in International Affairs at Middle Tennessee State University.

Zoe Stadler

IEA Advanced Motor Fuels (AMF TCP)

Zoe Stadler is an engineer at the OST Ostschweizer Fachhochschule in Rapperswil, where she heads the Power-to-Gas department. The research team operates its own power-to-methane research facility and conducts techno-economic studies. Zoe Stadler also works on municipal climate and energy strategies. Since 2022, Zoe Stadler has been leading a project on e-fuels at the Technology Collaboration Program (TCP) on Advanced Motor Fuels at the International Energy Agency, which aims to strengthen the global exchange on renewable, electricity-based fuels.
